While I am making steady progress ticking things off my Life To-Do-List, the seemingly attainable goal of ‘be a studio audience member in a commercial television show' has consistently eluded me. I have received countless knock-backs from shows as diverse as Deal or No Deal and Tony Jones's Q&A. Just when I was ready to give up on my dream, I hear that the Australia's Funniest Home Video Grand Final is being held at South Bank on Tuesday.
The only problem, of course, is that the show simply isn't that funny anymore. It's hard to say exactly when that happened. It might have something to do with the internet. Or it could have been the moment we hit high school. Or maybe there's only so many clips of babies farting and giggling the average person can take. Either way, it's fairly surprising that this show even exists anymore. Still, the though of sitting there wide-eyed in the studio audience, laughing at awkward jokes and admiring those cars spinning around on those rotating circle things on stage seriously has me weak at the knees.

FourThousand is a subcultural guide to Brisbane, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Brisbane writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence FourThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
