Who would have thunk there were so many pools in Brisbane. I didn't even realise Musgrave Park had a pool, and there it has stood, smack bang right under our noses probably for the last 20 years or so. Located literally across the road from The Greek Club, Musgrave pool is a pool that doesn't take itself too seriously. Don't get us wrong - this would be the perfect place to stake a lane out and go hell-for-leather on your freestyle. What we mean when we say this pool doesn't take itself too seriously is that it isn't trying too hard to impress you; it is true to itself in that it really is just a pool - plain and simple - concrete and water.
Musgrave does have a lovely city skyline that sits propped up behind it's seemingly desolate surrounds. Geez, for a pool that don't care much about looks and hooks we sure are getting a little too descriptive here.
Wanna swim? Live in West End? ... Musgrave pool is so the pool for you.

FourThousand is a subcultural guide to Brisbane, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Brisbane writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence FourThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
