Hello summer! OK, yes it might still officially be spring, but in our high-UV-insanely-hot little city, summer weather certainly feels a little more frequent than a heady three months once a year. Thankfully, FourThousand is proud to present ‘The Public Pool Series' - a list of local places to take a dip in the stick and swelt of the coming months. Because, just like the myth that we all have Kangaroos for pets; it's also untrue that all Queenslanders have a backyard pool.
We do however have a handful of local public pools to simmer down in. Spring Hill Baths has been around since 1886 (Brisbane's first in ground public bath) and it's still rockin' that old-school feel with brightly coloured individual change rooms lining the poolside. The pool is indoors too, so you can combat sun-damage (aka ‘a tan') at the same time as getting in a good splish-splash.
The baths also house a Pilates studio and café, plus the pools are heated all year round - so it's not just the ridiculous heat that can drive you into your swimming costume. Don't forget your bathing caps!
Ambience: Indoor
Difficulty: Won't hurt a bit
