Picnics are great! Spread out on a big blanket with an over-abundance of expensive gourmet goodies you would never normally buy because they are too damn expensive. Stuffing your face on Danish feta, stuffed red peppers, pickled onions, dolmades and the like while sitting in the afternoon sun drinking wine out of plastic cups. Isn't that what Queensland is all about?
Of course there are all the big, well-known parks: The Queen's Gardens, the Botanical Gardens (in the city and at Mt Coot-tha), the Roma Street Parklands, New Farm park, Davies park and South Bank Parklands, which are worth the visit. But there are loads of less-known parks around tucked away in quiet corners. Brisbane has one of the highest numbers of park and recreation spaces per capita of anywhere in the world. There is bound to be one somewhere near you.
If you are just getting out of the house, wanting somewhere to eat your lunch without staring at a brick wall or looking to do something a little bit special, consider a picnic in the park. You may even get to rub sunscreen into that special someone.
Ambience: Outdoor
Difficulty: Exertion will pay off
