You gotta hand it to the Greeks, they sure know how to put on a good party. After being rained out a few weeks back, the postponed Paniyiri is finally here and ready to Oohpah!
What is Paniyiri you ask? It's a culture festival that celebrates all things Greek. AKA a day where you lie in the sun, eat honey puffs and watch old people have one too many glasses of Ouzio and attempt to Zorba. The making of a quality day out.
It's also a great opportunity to take along your token Greek friend and watch them get swamped and fussed over by every relative they have. It's also really fun to encourage them to enter in the So You Think You Can Dance Greek, or ask them to teach you the Zorba. Or if you don't have any Greek friends, just start talking to someone and tell them you know Effie and Spiro, and you'll be Zorba-ring before you know it.
And just when you thought all that Haloumi, Dolmades and Baklava couldn't be topped? They're also putting on fireworks. Yassou!
