It's fair to say it's getting towards the perfect time of year in Brisbane. Warm days, chilly nights; those flawless blue skies and lingering sunsets of which we are so proud. Recognising this, the good people at Openair are this week launching the Brisbane leg of their renowned east coast cinema soirees, all dreamy-like under the stars with their sweet offering of films, live music and drinks.

While ‘outdoor movies' usually evokes the image of American teens making out in the back of old cars beneath the inane flicker of Hollywood's latest churn out, we can assure you Openair is nothing of the sort. This is local culture at its finest, with a program boasting classic favourites like The Goonies and Donnie Darko alongside current Oscar darlings Milk, Slumdog Millionaire and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

With each film beginning at dusk in South Bank's lush rainforest green, there's no doubt Brisbane Openair promises to be quite the romantic affair. So whether you're coupled up and cosy on the grass, or just content relaxing among friends and a slow blanket of moonlight, it's certainly an event worth being part of. And remember - with each film screening only once, you best get booking quick to avoid disappointment!
