Play by the rules and no one gets hurt, OK. This is our word of advice for the untamed game that is Barefoot Bowls. Like most clubs that still serve beer by the jug for around a tenner, Merthyr Bowls Club is run by a strict and dedicated team of seasoned bowlers. Listen up, there's a lot to be learned from these power bowlers and not just how to get your bowling whites whiter. Just remember to keep a lid on the war cries; there is to be no yelling or screaming whilst playing bowls - clapping is encouraged (only) if a good bowl has been delivered.

Once you've got etiquette and lingo down it won't be long till you figure out how to get close to ‘the Jack', and you'll be on your way to learning how to pace the green. As long as you can pace the beers too, this Sunday afternoon delight can only end in wins. Soak up the sunshine by the river and let the breeze guide your inner bowling chi.
