Korean Bathhouses have serenity. They're a place to clear the mind, pores and soul. They have the perfect combination of water: cold, hot and high-pressured, plus a big 'ol sauna to sweat it out in. What they don't always mention is they also have more old bratwurst than a German fall out shelter.

The Koreans will tell you, there's nothing more manly than sweating it out in a room full of weathered old-timers. It's sort of like telling legends by the campfire, passing on history though the ages - but here it's done over steam and showers and to be honest, it's a little uncomfortable.

I pushed through however and despite the initial awkwardness - I've got to say, after a match of squash it helped loosen a tight muscle or two. But be organised, if you're not prepared to go traditional - pack the Speedos.
