I know it's terrible to say 'Shop' when we're talking about real, live animals, but unfortunately we don't have a section called 'Adopt'. Adopt is what we mean however, and we're looking at YOU.

Summer is peak breeding season for Queensland's kitties and pups, and unfortunately that means thousands of unwanted and abandoned litters arriving on the RSPCA's doorstep every week. Sadly, because of mistreatment, disease, or more commonly, a simple lack of homes, hundreds of these new lives have to be ended every day (in 2007-8, this meant a total of almost 24,000 dogs and 43,000 cats and kittens - over 60% of those taken in). Just look into the eyes of that little puppy and tell me it doesn't break your heart?

So if you're thinking of a new addition to the family (pet-wise), then the RSPCA is the place to do it. With so many already unwanted and homeless pets, pet shops just breed unnecessarily for profit and only add to the problem - so stay away! RSPCA staff will be happy to chat to you and decide if you're ready to adopt, and which pet is best for you.

Otherwise, there are plenty of other ways to support. Jump online to find out more.
