Butter Beats is a household name in this northern city of ours. Responsible for serving up the freshest in urban culture, collectables and quite obviously, beats... since the summer of '98. That's ten years this summer baby!
Butter Beats can be an intimidating store to walk into, if you're not all up and down with record knowledge. But rest assured, the staff are friendly and love to help educate. Stocking everything from hip-hop to trance, reggae to rock - plus bucket loads of ridiculous jargon to make your bits wet as your mind toys with the notion of becoming a street artiste... whilst listening to the latest hip-hop-funk-electro album from Belgium. There are also heaps of naughty and nice Taschen titles not to mention being jammed wall to wall with t-shirts, spray paints, characters and every kind of record related paraphernalia you can imagine.
Lastly, remember that when a Butter Beats staff waxes lyrical bout a record, it's straight from the heart. These guys are real deal deejays and street specialists. Don't let other imitations fool yo', after all - ten years strong - they must be dropping beats and breaking things right.
