Watchmen is a Graphic Novel noir-detective tale/super-hero fable/political thriller/romance with social commentary, brutal psychological realism and deconstructionism. Heck, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons genre mash better than any 8 bit, lo-fi, DIY, post-punk, screamo, hardcore, garage electro folk band anywhere. Watchmen asks what kind of person would dress up in tights and a mask to lurk in alleys looking for ‘crooks' to beat up; would you like this person, would they like each other, would they even like themselves? In other news, it's going to be made into a movie soon so there are 4 reasons to read Watchmen now:

1. You love comics.
Watchmen is a master piece of modern fiction, it's the only comic book to win a Hugo award and feature in Time magazines Top 100 English Language novels since 1923.

2. You love comic movie adaptations.
Zack Snyder (300, Dawn of the Dead) has his work cut out for him making Watchmen into a movie. It's going to be good but without a standing ovation at every film festival across the globe it'll never be as good as the book. So if you're going to love the movie you'll love the book more.

3. You hate comic movie adaptations.
This way you can tell all you're friends how shit it is, and how it's nowhere near as good as the book.

4. You think the books always better than the film.

Ditto.
