Daniel Levitin is a character worthy of a story all of his own. Levitin is a former record producer, all round music maker, neuroscientist and writer. His latest creation is a stunning study of the beauty of music and how it actually affects our brains. We all have those songs, those albums that take you back to a time, a place, a smell, a lover. This Is Your Brain on Music unravels the mysteries of how music does this and why. Levitin helps us understand what happens inside our heads when that particular song pulls at your heart, and why some people get it and others simply don't.
For some music is an obsession that dictates their lives, for others it is purely something they listen to between the ridiculous banter of radio presenters on their way to work.
