Along with sucking on Lego and counting down the Rocket Clock, defacinga humble colouring book was once a 4-year-old rite passage. A rite thatseems to have diminished in place of ‘interactive learning' anddefacing a screen with a mouse-controlled paintbrush.
This hit VA EditionsEditor Ed Davis, when he was looking for a gift for his two littlegirls. Unable to find anything inspiring, he set about contacting agroup of artists, writers and friends to create Short.
Saddle-stitched in black and white, Short combines the work of artists such as Stefan Marx, Deanne Cheuk, Mike Giant and Chris Hopkinsinto 82 pages of illustrations on which you can make your mark. Marxand Hopkins have also designed a poster as part of the publication, which is scribble-ready too.
Recently picked up by BEAMS inJapan, the book has lent itself to a series of seven illustrated teesto be released this week in Tokyo. They'll be available here later inthe year, until then, get your paws and your pens onto Short.
