"Read, laugh, cry like there's some glitter in your eye. Shake, dance, and sing like you're wearing Jagger's wedding ring." Yep, the second issue of uber-stylish zine a cloth-covered button is out, and we think that's worth celebrating.
In case you're unfamiliar, this Melbourne-based nationally-acclaimed publication (now in full colour!) shows off just what we love about that southern belle of a city, boasting a creative smorgasbord of some of our country's most talented writers, illustrators and graphic artists. It's not only beautiful to look at, but intelligent, humorous and quietly seductive, and has that rare thing in the publishing industry: integrity. (The lack of advertising is just a bonus, really).
The girls were told they were insane to attempt another print publication in the current economic climate, but, well, they told the GFC where to go. "We're romantics for the printed word," swoons the mag's co-editor Jess. "There's no substitute for the smell of inky paper, the soft sheen of cover stock against your cheek..."
Yes, a cloth-covered button really is a little temptress of a thing. Get her in your life now.

FourThousand is a subcultural guide to Brisbane, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Brisbane writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence FourThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
