Is this a grammatical response to No Age’s Nouns? In it’s most simplistic format, an album is really quite similar to a word… it comprises of smaller parts (i.e. songs are individual letters) which together as a whole form a means of communication which can be seen, heard and felt.

So what sort of word is Verbs overall? Active? Passive? The truth is, it’s somewhere in between. It’s a kind of genre-bending trip into a euphoric psyche of tone and noise, except with a more commanding sound than its linguistic counterpart – it does represent active prose after all and doesn’t just act as a naming convention.

The opening strains and chants of All My Friends establish the record from the outset as a true psychedelic affair, laced with tribal-esque refrains and mix-n-match samples. Throughout the record, the resonance peters in and out like a tide of sound, at times bounding in exuberance, at others waning in introspect. It seems the whole ambient trip music can take you on is, dare I say it, “in” at the moment.

Indeed, Verbs is much like an English lesson – to some an eye-opening experience of sensory transmission, and to others slow and boring, but overall still quite necessary for most. We recommend you attend and try to learn something from it – you’ll probably still never amount to anything though.
