Description: If there was ever a gig to prove to us Brisbanites that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a good pop song or two (or maybe forty in this case), the Brisbane leg of the Mellow Gold tour is just that. Local favourites The John Steel Singers are almost finished their four-show tour of the east coast, and they have brought Sydney’s classy (and brassy) Kahn Brothers with them back to Brisbane, as well as having support in the form of the indi-pop- confederates Turtle Creek and the downtempo songstress Helen Franzmann, hereby known as McKisko. Dance, sing, laugh and play at The Globe this Friday. - SM
