If you haven't heard the name Emma Rea yet, you soon will. This up-and-coming Brisbane designer has just launched Poetry: her first line for Spring/Summer 2008. Her unique designs are dark and brooding yet maintain a sense of femininity and delicacy with floating fabrics and quality organic construction.
"Poetry is inspired by Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith, Free Spirits and Nature," says Emma. "The fabrics are all sheer and fluid silks and cottons, dip dyed, tie-dyed and scrunched. Lots of layering and a bit of draping... Very edge-of-summer vibe as the weather gets warmer."
Beautifully captured by our own Shannon Luk, a photographic exhibition of the collection will also be showing at Joshua Levi Galleries for - actually we're not too sure how long - just give them a buzz at the gallery. Definitely worth checking out.
