Hey kids, yep – if you haven’t noticed it’s annual ‘skate once’ time again. Personally, skateboards have only ever been a painful memory: there was the time I dared plop my bottom on one and ride down a very steep driveway to win a spot in the the neighbourhood ‘boys club’ (age 5).
Then there was the time (sans boys club) one of the neighbourhood boys slid one under my bicycle tyre, consequently causing a massive ‘stack’ and a broken Mickey Mouse watch (age 7). All in all they seem like a lot of tears and scabby knees… however, the outpost and blonde venus are helping create art and beautiful things to look at out of the dangerous deck.
The "i used skate once" zine is a thirty-page photo documentation of the last three years of the blonde venus/the outpost "I used to skate once" art show. It features the artists, bands, flyers and good times that have been had so far. There are only 200 copies available, so you'd best be quick… and no sneaky tripping people over with skateboard tricks, please.
