For many of us, op-shopping is one of life's simplest (and greatest) pleasures. Not only is your money going to a good cause, but also you can come home with box-loads of treasures without even breaking a note. You can find yourself that amazing vintage dress or tee that fits perfectly though accompanied by a one-digit price tag.
Well, it gets even better. This crazy group of people has brought us what can only be described as a dream: the Brisbane Vintage Fashion Fair. It is going to be an extravaganza of vintage, a carnival of kitsch and a regalia of retro.
Gathered by keen collectors and vintage specialists, the fair promises visitors "a glorious array of handbags, linen, lace, embroidery, shoes, hats, gowns, chiffons, beaded dresses, textiles, men's vintage, needle work, buttons, necklaces, gloves, trimmings, fashion magazines, costume jewellery, feathers boas, compacts, combs, fans and more." Previous events have attracted Brisbane's keenest designers, costumiers, models, trend-spotters, wardrobe and props buyers, vintage fans and fashion students.
On Friday, be one of the first to paw through gallons of glorious garb. The bar will be open for you to enjoy a glass of bubbly while you browse. Then come back on Saturday and do it all again.
