BATS. is a Brisbane based zine made by a collection of girls with an average age of 16.6 years. They might be collectively underage, but what they lack in adulthood they make up for in attitude and street-sense. In fact, being 18 never made anyone any smarter or for that matter, cooler. BATS. is satirical, it's dark, it's original and it truly hits the nail on the head when it comes to a triumphant first-issue-zine.

Issue One, The Halloween Issue is 26 pages of cut ‘n pasted Xerox glory, featuring all things important to any teenage girl: Yves Klein Blue, River Phoenix, trick or treat, being a bad-ass, Facebook and fashion photography. However, BATS. takes a clever spin on these topics e.g.‘ Oh my lord, my parents have Facebook', ‘5 pickup lines I never use (anymore)' by Michael Tomlinson (YKB) and a brooding photoshoot by Lachlan Richards.

The 'Grandma Syndrome' article is particularly priceless, but holy-smokes do these little ladies know how to take freedom of speech to a whole other (f--king) level. Warning: explicit nouns, verbs and adjectives occur frequently, girls - please don't give a copy to your Gran.
