Description:
One of those rare occurrences whereby the demise of a band's frontman was the catalyst in actually creating a half-decent "spin-off". Okay, so labelling New Order as "half-decent" is probably punishable by law in a few countries, but can anything ever really beat the original?
Let's not argue semantics though, the musical benchmark left by both Joy Division and New Order is seemingly impossible to surpass, and the twin screening of 2007's Joy Division: A Documentary and the 1993 documentary New Order: New Order Story will only help to evince that very fact. Not only that, it should please fans of all persuasions and help to fill in any gaps people may have about just how the whole damn thing went down. - SM

FourThousand is a subcultural guide to Brisbane, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Brisbane writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence FourThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
