When I hear the words rock photography, I'm usually inclined to cringe a little. I mean, who wants to see a photo of the same stage set up, with the same pinky-blue tinged lighting, the same sweeping meaningful gaze of the frontwoman/man. I'm hoping Underexposed changes my perceptions of this genre and, from the sounds of it, it just might give me a punch in the back of the head and yell at me in that Mr. T tone of voice.

Showcasing a bunch of local photographers who've taken it as their duty to document the ever-growing musical accomplishments of those up there on the big stage, this exhibition looks as though it will put the subject back into the object, instead of leaving you high and dry. Joshua Levi Galleries isn't just promoting the photography, however; they've got a full swag of acts on the bandwagon to play through the duration of the exhibition. Screamfeeder, The Cairos, Nova Scotia along with many others have all signed up to play throughout the end of April and start of May.

If you feel like there's no bite anymore, go along to Underexposed and take a look, and if you think you can do it better, hopefully this inspires you to do so! Who knows, you just might be the next Tony Mott
