The tinygold shows are an annual cult event known for championing the works of emerging Queensland artists. Returning this winter with Tales from the Cold Ghost III, the organisers promise a bigger show, with a three week celebration involving an exhibition, live gigs, an afterparty, an arts-networking day and a fashion parade. Among the 95 works being featured are Liam Mathers' ‘cheeky' vinyl bedwares and Simone Eisler's mummified barramundi-scaled dolls and sculptures from oyster shells (the artist is actually allergic to oysters).

Also a highlight is Sue-Ching Lascelles' textile screen-grabs from that zany TV series COPS! (the artist is actually allergic to being arrested). So if you crave a local plethora of exciting, experimental and socially-quirky artworks then start your first night of August with the arty types at tinygold. And witness as the Gold Coast delights itself into cultural puberty.
