A friend of mine once had Grant Stevens as a tutor at uni for video art 101 or something or other. I know this because, well, that friend was me. I remember him fondly, not because he passed the last minute assignment I did on Spike Jonze (seriously, thank you) but because of his ‘uniform’.

I’m not talkin’ a ‘QUT - university for the real world’ type uniform; this guy always, and I mean every time I saw him, was wearing tacky tourist shirts. You know the ones – ‘Great Barrier Reef’ in neon colours, some were totally amazing, real vintage finds! Had he actually been to all these places? Who knows.

If you want to find out more about my tacky tourist-shirted tutor – head on down to the IMA and see what this former Brisbanite, now based in Los Angeles, has to say about personal reflection, self-expression, self-help, new age spirituality and other ways to get a grip. And no, it’s not a hanging collection of his tourist t-shirts. Damn!
