If you wanted to incite some sort of riot against triskaidekaphobia, the new artist collective, Thirteen will probably encourage you. There's only positivity ruminating within this group of glowing young rogues, ready to rumble with the rubble and create their own kind of jazz. It's like The Outsiders or James Dean multiplied, only it's for now, and not for anyone else, only for themselves, and for those things that need more caring about.

The collective consists of thirteen (and the occasional fourteenth and fifteenth) members and they're all pitching in this weekend for a show at an old warehouse on the outskirts of the city. With 14 artists participating in this exhibition, all working with different mediums ranging from drawing and painting, to digital and sculpture, their precarious and precious works will be placed within the walls of the crumbling edifice of the Anstey St warehouse. Artists include Clare Cowley (print), Archer Davies (paint), Nicole Georgina Gillard (photo/video), and mo' fo' yo' one dime shoe shine.

The appeal stands outside of what you'd usually consider appealing about one of these kind of events: it stands in the quality of the works produced, not just in the public liability nightmare of an environment. It'll be a candy trap of dark colour, Dark Crystal or Labyrinth come to life, though you don't need to be afraid of David Bowie anymore. You probably never even had to be.
