Remember all of those high school teen movies that revolved around the ‘party of the year' scenario. Some nerdy rich kid would be sitting round with his parents at the dinner table, listening to classical music and then all of a sudden someone would yell out ‘PARTY!,' the windows would smash, a jock would walk in with a carton and one hundred screaming teens would follow. My high school parties never quite lived up to that expectation, and ever since I have been on the hunt for that ‘party of the year'.
This year I called the search off when I crashed a little gathering called Junkyard. It was love at first sight of the jumping castle.
From its humble beginnings in the form of a West End house party, Junkyard has outgrown the house and is now upgrading to the Old Museum. Yes, you heard right - that big old building near the RNA show grounds is the place to be this Saturday night.
Keywords: music, fashion and hand clappin'! Music is by Customer, Heart Flew Like an Arrow, Loomer, Tin Can Radio and Johannes Lloyd Selhofer. For the visual fiend, there will be a fashion parade by Box Vintage and art exhibits by local artists to keep you happy.
Uni's finished, Christmas is scarily near and summer is just around the corner. Let the shenanigans begin...
