Normally we wouldn't quote directly from an artists bio because that's just plain lazy. But when it comes to shedding a little light on awesome UK artist French who is just about to open an exhibition at new gallery Nine Lives, there's no way that we can tell it any better than this:
"French is from Aldershot, but lives in Brixton. He draws pictures all day, whilst sitting in his underpants, listening to death metal, drinking tea. The first band he ever saw was NUCLEAR ASSAULT in 1989 and still wears the tour t-shirt. The last band he saw was FLESHROT in Croydon! He can draw anything he likes or doesn't like. He loves eating cheap noodles and apples and prefers cold weather."
French has a knack for knocking up gloriously sinewy drawings of dudes, hammers, gorillas, chickens, penguins, spiders, and any well, yeah, anything he likes really. Including hands. He's been in Australia the last couple of months, skating, drawing, camping on the beach and exhibiting his work at galleries like Monster Children and Don't Come Gallery. All in all he's definitely the coolest thing to come out of Brixton since The Clash.
