TGIF really has come a very long way in this burgeoning town of ours. Yeh, a few years ago you would have sufficed with some after work drinks at Friday's (naturally). Hey, you can't be blamed - it was considered a hot place to be.

Nowadays there are more options, beside the obvious list of cooler places to drink; there's a gallery above Mellino's that's giving Brisbane a Brooklyn style and everyone is sipping on cold beers, talking art and possibility.

This Friday you can thank Frankie magazine and local artist, designer and curator Mel Baxter for Nine Lives' latest show, Hand Drawn. This exhibition is all girl! A salutation to some of Australia and New Zealand's finest female illustrators. The line-up is more exciting than the shot list at Friday's too: Kelly Thompson, Kareena Zerefos, Sarah Larnach (of Ladyhawke artwork fame) and Fee Harding and Xiao. Get your paws on their lovely draw(ing)s.
