Ever since my Mum joined Facebook a few months ago, she's been pretending that she doesn't know how to use it when really she's a whizz at the Wall, and the Slide FunSpace formerly known as FunWall, and the Tetris, and the secretly-checking-out all-of-my-photos-hoping-to-find-a-scandal. Anyway, just yesterday I caught her stalking my page when she noticed my RSVP to Fresher C_nts. Clearly horrified* by the potential implications of this ‘event' my mother demanded to know more.
So I say, Hi Mum! This event called Fresher C_nts is not actually a STD-free teenage lesbian Korean Bathhouse party. Instead it is a one night event which aims to support Brisbane's emerging contemporary artists and reinvigorate our fine citys' art scene. In fact this showcase may be some kind of really exciting critique of exhibition opportunities up for grabs within Brisbane's art institutions. It might also be a response to the general lack of humour in art, who knows? What am I doing before the event, can I come over? No, I'm going to The New Fresh Cut at the IMA before that. Oh yes there will be lots of very nice and fascinating people there and no I won't drink too much and yes I'll have a wonderful time out on the town and I'll tell you all about it on Sunday night w hen I see you guys for dinner.
*Disclaimer: Could be exaggerating my mothers' nagging. She is actually really cool.
