It's been over a decade since the mid-1990s baby. It's been over a decade since crop-tops, Levi's 501, baby doll dresses and flannel. Back Issues showcases the work of over 15 artists who have contributed to Brisbane's altenative comics scene since crop top times. Still scribbling on and still wearing flannel; these funny guys and gals are the best in DIY this city has to offer.
The show focuses specifically on pages of sequential comic art which have been either self-published by the artist or published in other non-mainstream publications (in other words, they aren't big, dirty sell-outs). The show includes the work of two of the longest running and well known Australian comic anthologies, Groovy Gravy and Phatsville, also on the pin-up are the ever-popular Plump Oyster, Girlie Pains, Bad Teeth and Toiletcitycomics - among many others.
The show is free, but you best smash open that piggy bank now; in order to have of heaps of spare change for raffle tickets to win sweet prizes from The Outpost, The Zoo, The Troubadour, The Alibi Room, Dendy and other cool places.
Woot! for flannel, woot! for comics and woot! for Brisbane.

FourThousand is a subcultural guide to Brisbane, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Brisbane writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence FourThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
