That cheeky old French theorist Baudrillard once complained about the sensationalism of art, bigger always meaning better etc etc; the artists showing at Under One Meter reject the notion of overbearingly spectacular art and give you humble paintings at about the size of a Grade Fiver, proclaiming good things come in small packages! I mean, don't you agree if you WROTE IN CAPS all the time, you'd be considered a bit of a chump?
There are 23 artists showing, and they include the likes of Zoe Porter, Matt Malone, BrentWilson, Megan Cope, and Akiko Yamasaki. It's a real mixed bag - with mediums ranging from watercolour, to oils, to painted objects - you can rest assured you won't get bored. Baudrillard also said there's no meaning left in art. Ask these artists and they'll tell you this is where he's wrong. If there's no meaning left in art, there's no meaning left in the world right? Things aren't that bleak, old man.
