Description:
Kustom Kulture, ay? It's basically just a reason for pomade-heavy, leather jacket-wearing, knuckle duster-brandishing, cigarette smoking punks to gather in the one spot, listen to some rocka- and psychobilly and check out some hot rods, hot bitches and hot dogs (LOL!). But you know what, it's so much damn fun, and it's not pretentious at all unlike most "scene" events.
Event: Party
Stimulus: sound the horns!
El Torito is so charming it makes the sun itself smile. When just walking along Boundary Street, you wouldn't even realise it was a restaurant - (if not for the chalk board proclaiming it's lunch specials).

I have to admit that I sometimes get a bit intimidated by these new world coffee shops. I find myself fumbling for coins as the long queue shuffles impatiently behind me. Then stuck trying to find a seat amongst the congregations of business suits that fill the room.
Independent suburban cafes, however, are usually a much more relaxed affair.
I have fond childhood memories of sitting at the kitchen table, armed with my little pink scissors, going for broke on my dear mother's magazines... Sticking Cyndi Lauper's head on Michael Jackson's body... carefully cutting around the edges of George Clooney's mullet.

For many of us, op-shopping is one of life's simplest (and greatest) pleasures. Not only is your money going to a good cause, but also you can come home with box-loads of treasures without even breaking a note. You can find yourself that amazing vintage dress or tee that fits perfectly though accompanied by a one-digit price tag.
