All I ever here is that there is nothing to do! Brisbane is boring! I am moving to Melbourne blah, blah, blah, get serious! Rookie mistake amigos! There are so many things to do every night of the week in our fair city and this Friday opens an exciting exhibition at our favourite venue, Nine Lives.

The Versus Show - Beth Willis VS. Jay Musk
Where:
The Versus Gallery, corner of Water and Brunswick Sts, Fortitude Valley (The Fort Building)
When:
Opens Fri Jun 19, from 7pm

Description:
Don't miss Jay Musk and Beth Willis fighting it out cage-fighter style Friday night. Yep, it's going to be a brutal blood bath; hair pulling and ball twisting... JOKES! Jay will be skating on the ramp he built just for the show and his art (of the skate deck variety) will also be on show, as will Beth's insidious and beautiful photos.
We're all going to die and everyone we know is going to die, too. It's useless to pretend otherwise, and why the long face? Death is funny haha and funny interesting, just like the rest of life. And who knows, it might be just around the corner, especially if you make a habit of attending exhibitions in Fortitude Valley.
What:
Collections Collected - works by Damien Matter
Where:
NineLives Gallery, upstairs, 330 Brunswick St Mall
When:

Description:
NineLives show. You know it'll be good. Need I explain? (really!) Ok, for all you fact-geeks out there: It's Brisbane-based artist Damien Matter's first solo show. His art is known to be intriguing, in a round-about Hitchcock way, it explores the depths if the human psyche. The illustrations are creepy.
What:
Nick Simpson and Jared O'Sullivan
Where:
NineLives Gallery, upstairs 330 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley
When:
Opening night Fri May 22, from 6pm. Exhibition runs till the end of May. Gallery open 10am - 4pm Sat & Sun most weekends
How much:
Free to look
Description:
It like the way NineLives know how to juxtapose; this week they have another two artists with way diverse practices: Nick is an illustrator who's work, just from looking at it, I would say takes a few cues from popular culture i.e - I'm guessing South Park? Very cheeky. Jared is a photographer who has taken it upon himself to make his lens a new limb, carrying his camera around pretty much everywhere for the last few years, capturing the rebellion and freedom of this crazy world.
Att: Sleepless night stalkers and scavengers.
Re: Two of Brisbane's illest painters under one roof.
If you haven't had much of a chance to check out what's happening at NineLives, now is the perfect chance to stumble up those narrow stairs above Mellino's and check out what they've been up to.
I hope its no coincidence that the new exhibition, Hungry Like the Wolf, doesn't correspond with the full moon, otherwise you'd think the organisers were hoping for a bloodbath! This exhibition takes hold of all those folklorey, monsteresque, don't-deal-with-the-devil-in-the-woods kind of themes, taking animal heads and putting them in beds and all that jazz.
