'The girl with the tiny line drawings?' ‘Hannah Smith right?' Yes, I've heard she's actually a woodland pixie who lives off pencil shavings and arabica beans and her house is made of cotton and twigs. Not true. Unfortunately, even though it makes for some exciting imagery.
Hannah Smith is based on the Gold Coast and resides in a cute house I'm sure.
"Hey! Small Fry! Get over here and join us for some b-ball!". Ever noticed how shorties are usually pretty good at neighbourhood basketball? Maybe I'm deluding myself, but their height can allow for lots of duck and weave. Enough to give Leroy Loggins a run for his money. They'll be under his legs in no time.

Pretty pictures are even prettier when they're drawn by pretty ladies. It's a cold, hard (yet warm, soft and pretty smelling) fact. Hand Drawn is put together by Frankie magazine and Nine Lives Gallery and curated by Brisbane local Mel Baxter. So if you're looking for some pretty works of art to hang above your knitting chair or stare lovingly at while your tea brews you know where to go.
She goes to sleep humming the tunes of Hercules and Love Affair and her bedtime story consists of wandering though black and white pages of Helmut Newton photography. It's no wonder this clever designer wakes up filled the ideas of romance, old Hollywood and well, sex. While most of us just look down the bottom of a mug of coffee and wonder is that really the time?
Tonight is that time for Irena, time to step out of the proverbial closet and unleash her very first collection (drumroll please).
Wassss up party people!? Yes, it's true, we might not look a day over 2, but we're 100 issues old. There will be a party, there will be cake, you can come in costume and there will be many, many helium balloons - not to mention loads of streamers. No cheesy birthday trappings will be spared! Nothing can save you from the wildness that will ensue.
We're all going to die and everyone we know is going to die, too. It's useless to pretend otherwise, and why the long face? Death is funny haha and funny interesting, just like the rest of life. And who knows, it might be just around the corner, especially if you make a habit of attending exhibitions in Fortitude Valley.

YES! It's a solo exhibition by Nick Chalmers. This guy has all kinds of tricks up his sleeves: using wood for canvases, maps for skin and the occasional short film. Mix it up a bit why don't ya? I like his 2-D faces. Very edge, a bit tribal. So Nicholas does not intend for his art to be a passive experience, so feel free to tell him how amazing it is this Friday.
