You might remember six months ago - yes, I know, sometimes it's hard to remember how many candles you blew out last birthday - BUT, this you would have remembered. Leg Up - the artist designed range of high-waisted tights. You remember! Of course you do. You still have fond memories of the warm stretchy comfort they provided you through the winter and all the compliments you got on how original they were.
I recently read Nam Le's The Boat, and though in parts it sounded like Palahniuk had crashed Bret Eason Ellis' holiday on Stradbroke Island, it was a pretty good read. There was one story in particular that caught the 16 year old in me... one of those beach stories that is quintessentially Australian.

There is something profoundly paralysing about a couple playing beautiful music. The music takes on a greater energy; love songs become sweeter, imbued with a sense of relevance and reality.
Perfect example: Do The Robot. The work of Matt and Sarah Deasy, their new full length First Names is all shimmering tones and Autumn colours, written in part during their honeymoon travels through Europe.
Last fortnight Ruby 2 Go Go scooted suavely across our pages, and this week it's time to uncover the works of another local creative talent, Pannikin. Designed by lovely 19-year-old Holly Leonardson, Pannikin delivers us a crafty-cute world of storybook imagery, woodland creatures and vintage prints, all mixed together into a modern, highly-wearable range of brooches, necklaces and earrings (and a bunch of printed stationery).
Step aside for a moment Sydney and Melbourne - Brisbane's got the goods. While labels like Okay! and Ellim continue to impress in the fashion stakes, there's a whole lot of talent also emerging in the jewellery and design arenas, and over the next few weeks I'd be honoured to introduce you to a few of them.
