Carmela Ruffino is a machine. So much so, that we think she should change her name to Tuffino. I mean, no sissy could ever pump out as many amazing paintings as she does and still have time to live and love the way you can see she does (it's there in her eyes). Ruffino has created these miniature paintings, which could almost be described as some sort of nü linear abstraction.

There are improvements to be made in our urban landscape. Although the romanticism of a dilapidated City Hall, squatted barracks and empty brick walls mean that we can realise adventures with ease, it's also great to see something other than badly executed throw ups. What better place to see amazing wall art than an arterial road, right on the foundations of community radio station, 4ZzZfm.
Tuckeria fresh Mexican
Hey amigo, you like it hot, eh? At long last, Tuckeria has arrived to educate us on how Mexican cuisine should be - fresh, flavoursome and packing a punch. Taking it's cues from San Francisco's famous Mission District where burritos, vibrant Latino culture, bustling bars and colourful street murals paint the city jalapeno green and chilli red.
Feminism Never Happened
Hey Sassy! What do you mean feminism never happened!? Are we fucking the revolution back to square one, too many times in a quick succession, like Kevin Arnold losing his virginity in a wet dream? Are we too concerned with a return to essentialism or more with Harajuku? Is Naomi Wolf's dogma still dogma? To be honest, there's a hint of truth in all of the above.
Ivy + Bird
A new store has nested on the ever-evolving Arthur Street strip tucked just off James Street. Ivy + Bird is the creation of Brisbane-based jewellery and accessories designer, Maria Diakos. It's an inviting space that will inspire creativity. I walked in to be greeted by a lovely staff member busily sewing the finishing touches on a piece who warmly welcomed me whilst I pawed through and discovered the hidden treasures.
Small Fry
"Hey! Small Fry! Get over here and join us for some b-ball!". Ever noticed how shorties are usually pretty good at neighbourhood basketball? Maybe I'm deluding myself, but their height can allow for lots of duck and weave. Enough to give Leroy Loggins a run for his money. They'll be under his legs in no time.
