In 2002 I purchased my first pair of Dunlop Volleys. Wanting to stand out from the crowd, I took them home, lay them on some newspaper and destroyed them with a permanent pen and pink paint.
Once I realised that nothing could disguise the origin of the shoes and that I was rocking the same look as about 20 million other people, I worked out why it's so hard to put the words ‘original' and ‘footwear' together.
For a number of years now, we've been telling you what we like via the internet. We tell, you read, and then you spend your life savings on postage trying to get yourself a picnic rug with sleeves and the lates tissue of Apartamento and a pair of wooden bike handlebars, all at the same time. I imagine this boat to be a cruise liner that's setting sail for New York c.1930, only those Lonely Island guys are the entertainers, the food is contemporary Scandinavian, and there are no orange fake tans and greasy dudes.
Finally, the road works are gone and the glamour's back at the Gabba! Okay, so maybe not 'back' (it is a suburb renowned for football fans and traffic jams after all), but it's definitely arrived. A revamped Logan Road will charm you instantly with its romantic new streetscape featuring illuminated umbrella lights and plenty of old world swoon.
