Setting sail in 2003, geared in just a tiny little rowboat - we're pleased to say that eight years later, it looks like Violent Green have officially conquered Brisbane's high seas. Following up the massive success of their first store, the forever-quirky Violent Green delivers us small town folks some good news: they've opened up a sister store in the Fortitude Valley.

The forgotten art of the sock monkey has been resurrected by the one and only J Peterman. Avid Seinfeld watchers will remember that Elaine worked for the enigmatic Peterman, whose velvety timbre and gift for describing an everyday cardigan was unsurpassable. Killing time on my new favourite blog the other day, I was overjoyed to discover that J Peterman actually does exist, and not only does he exist, he's online.
Dammnn, ain't nothing finer than a Grand Scheme p-arty! This blowout has free tipples, NY Slice with silver service, a pop-up shop with designer threads at discount prices, a fixed gear bike show, live graff artistes and bangin' party tunes - all for only 5 clams entry. It's gonna be ‘Ghetto Chic' fo shiz ya'll.
The ever evolving Apartment boys can now put another feather in their cap with the launch of their own house brand, APTMNT. The very first collection includes all the staple pieces a young gentleman needs to gallivant around the town: a sweet range of quality shirting, a seriously good pair of jeans, and a chino pant.
There's a pigeon lady who lives across the road from my boyfriend's house. She's a genuine pigeon lady (perhaps Brisbane's only): sitting on her front porch with her walking frame and shawls; her flock of grey feathered children nesting peacefully around her.
Lost Pigeon is not the story of the one that got away (kind of like the Mormon or Amish teenager who escapes the compound).
Limedrop's latest, the Autumn Winter '09 Collection is titled ‘The Huntsman'. Now, when we think ‘huntsman' we are forgiven for thinking either of the relatively harmless variety of big, furry, crawly things - that still scare most of us into a congeal state of fear - or men in plaid, found in ‘the woods' with rifles.
