Just like the best little golden books of the time, from the 30s-70s twee and saccharine ruled the shelves, wishing you and ‘mommy' and sister and ‘grandmommie' the happiest of days, while the seedy old man peeked up your skirt, gave you a wink, then told you to get back to the kitchen.
