Christmas. Easter. Labour Day. Queen's Birthday. Simon Jones. Will Magnus. Alex Kortt. Andrew Kerridge. Holidays are just the best, ain't they? With their slothful, yet ultimately alluring charm (and their eyes - oh, their dreamy eyes!), you can easily lose track of all time whilst in this vacational daze.
Muted strains of guitar float over the top of light patters of drum and a mellifluous voice, culminating in optimistic, light-hearted pop that provides the perfect backing to a long weekend. Five tracks of gentle indie rock, alternating between sweet ditties and energetic musical dynamos, drifting via avenues of jocular post-punk and acute power pop before finding its way home with a flutter of driving rhythm infused with wails of desperation.
Indeed, the holidays can be a very tumultuous time, but in hindsight it is an opportunity for rest and reflection. Sit back, get comfortable and have a relaxing break. And then head to Alhambra this Thursday and jump around like a twat—you had Labour Day to take it easy for God's sake!
