It's like if Depeche Mode had made some kind of Italo-disco collaboration with Of Montreal. Only maybe not quite as endearing. Sure, this is a fun album, full of arpeggiatted faux-electro beats, glammy synths and geeky vocal delivery, but if substance is what you're after, you ain't gonna find it here.

I'm always one for a compromise in lyrical and musical essence - if an artist can create mindless, semi-alt tunes which pass the time nicely. It's definitely not a timeless classic that will last the eons, but it's not necessarily a record to completely forget either. Living Just For Fun has (basically) the same plucked bassline as Tina Turner's The Best, which automatically vindicates the song as awesome no matter what (right?), while We're Back and Robot's Got The Feeling both make me feel all happy and dancey like any electro-revival act should.

Soul Transplant has some big vocals in it, reminiscent of 1980's power ballads (Steeeeeeve Perry!), with a lyrical reference to Molly Ringwald only intensifying the 80's feel of the album. For the purists out there, don't bother with this. But for those of you more lenient with musical depth, this could be a bit of a summer fling for you.
