There's no doubt pizza is on it’s way into the endangered species list of socially acceptable foods. Fair enough when all it conjures up is images of gawky delivery boys, grease-stained boxes and warnings of an obesity epidemic which may or may not be linked to a mysterious ‘dominos effect’.
But you don’t have to start telling everyone you’ve never even had pizza before (while secretly suppressing your longing for those cheesy slices of heaven) just yet. Wild Pepper in West End is putting the pep back into pepperoni and the better back into feta. It is reinstating class into the local pizzeria.
With 32 menu options you'll burn plenty of calories just deciding what to order. You can keep it simple with the traditional ham and pineapple Queenslander or travel further with a slice of the Moroccan Chicken topped with spices, red onion and lime yoghurt dressing. Or, if meat's not your thing, there are extensive vegetarian and vegan options available.
And for those who like to save the best till last try a dessert pizza a pizza base topped with combinations of chocolate, banana, berries, pear and ice-cream.

FourThousand is a subcultural guide to Brisbane, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Brisbane writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence FourThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
