In all things arty and creative, it seems 'underground' is better. The less people who know about you, the more likely you are to rack some street cred points. (This does not however apply to solitary guitar strumming in your bedroom).

Perhaps Metro Arts had this in mind when building their resident cafe and bar, Verve. Descend the stairs to this dimly lit, funky little joint with its brick walls and bright red chairs to dine literally below the traffic flows of the CBD.

The chefs sure put in a five star performance with their menu of delicious Italian pastas, risottos and pizzas. I can vouch for the 'goat's cheese gnocchi' although pretty much every meal I saw whisked past my table looked damn good.

Add a fully licensed bar and regular live music and entertainment, and you many never again wish to see the light of day. So keep you eye on the time as a “quick bite before the show” might turn into a rather epic affair.
