Vapiano chose you Brisbane, yes that's right, of all the places in Oz it could planted its olive tree roots, BNE was the ripe one. Opening its doors just a few weeks ago, the concept is Wagamamas-esque, but Italiano. The other difference is that at Vapiano you watch your food being cooked and you're part of the process - the chef will ask if you like a little added spice and you can customise your meal by selecting the pasta type or adding extras. Then you take your little cafeteria tray and sit where you like, no waiters, no reservations. Vapiano is so modern and efficient, it's even come up with a way to pay that won't leave you worrying about splitting the bill - everyone has their own swipe card that registers their meal and drinks. Stupendo!

Vapiano might be quick and for a bargain price, but that doesn't mean they skimp on quality. Freshness is fundamental. From the in-house pasta, pizza and tending to the herb garden, to the strict ethos of all produce being sourced within 150km radius of the store. Pass me the basil pot.
