It's not often enough you go to nice restaurants to be greeted by bonny Irish lasses. Never in my experience as a sampler of the delights of postcode 4000 and beyond have I come across such cheer and good will. The Chelsea is seriously a very good place to eat, with the best coffee I've had in a long while. Thank you bonny Irish lass whose name I don't know; you made my day.
The Chelsea is located in the relatively new Barracks precinct perched between Petrie Terrace and Roma Street. It's actually been open for a while so apologies for not sharing it with you sooner (p.s - if you're a Chelsea convert you should have told me earlier - I can't get those wasted meals back you know). The menu will have you whet. The fit-out will have you reaching for a cigar and rushing to the powder room to thicken your eyeliner, the drinks - happy. Stay bonny Chelsea.

FourThousand is a subcultural guide to Brisbane, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Brisbane writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence FourThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
