So, you've worked the China Town strip, you've fallen in love with the rice paper rolls at Asian Fusion, you've drowned yourself in Wonton Soup from Cyber City, you've Yum-Cha'd your way through China House and you've outlasted the Laksa at King Of Kings - but have you made it as far up Wickham street as Tara Thai?

For the love of god, keep going! Now don't get distracted by the chesty broads outside Tony's Topless Dancers. Don't be put off by the ducks hanging in the window of that place next to The Vietnamese. Come yonder, for fragrant Thai awaits you at the one and only, Tara Thai.

Let's get down to the menu. I love Thai, but I don't like Thai that's too oily, too fatty or too pepped up on msg. Tara Thai would have to be the leanest, freshest, tastiest Thai I have ever come across. The Tom-Yum Prawn and Mushroom clear soup is something inexplicably divine. The Beef and Ginger has just the right amounts of each and every ingredient. The tofu is cooked to succulent perfection and the curries are delectably creamy. No matter what you try, you will lick your plate and you will come back.

It's BYO wine and beer, and unfortunately the magic of Tara Thai is no secret - so book ahead on weekends.

One day, one perfect day, I'll walk into Tara Thai and they'll say ‘Miss Rachel, same table?' I'm working on it.
