The New York-style cupcake has arrived good people of Brisbane. It's light, it's fine, it's fluffy and it's moist. Poppy Cakes owner Theo explains that it's all in the quality ingredients he uses, settling for nothing but the best (think Belgium butter and Madagascar bourbon vanilla extracts). It sounds exotic and believe me, it tastes it.

The cupcakes are classic and simple with timeless flavours like Chocolate Chocolate, Vanilla Vanilla, Chocolate Vanilla and Vanilla Chocolate. There is also vanilla and passion fruit flavour, as well as lemon poppy seed and a gluten free option too. But the real star here is the Red Velvet: a red buttermilk cake with a hint of cocoa, lathered in vanilla buttercream. The recipe comes from America's deep south and girlfriend, let me tell ya - you'll be singin' hallelujah!
