I have been on a mission to rediscover Brisbane! After years of steering clear, I recently rediscovered the City. After having what now seems like a serendipitous anxiety attack in the cess-pit of the Valley on Saturday night, I was led right into the welcoming arms of 'Pancakes at the Manor'. Nestled at the top of Charlotte St, just a frogs leap from the Elizabeth Street Arcade.
Pancakes really were just heavenly (and whadda-ya know - the manor is set in an old cathedral). You would be foolish to believe 'Pancakes at the Manor' to be a simple Pancake Place when you can get just anything from Nachos to Steak and starting from as little as $4.50! Be warned: if it's says 'gourmet' - it probably isn't what you're thinking. They do however make the best Sarsaparilla Spiders this side of Kedron. But pancakes are indeed the specialty: short stacks to long stacks, potato pancakes to crepes, and then there's the dessert menu. Oh dessert! My personal favorite is the 'Black Forest Cherry' (chocolate pancakes, choc-chips, cherries and chocolate sauce). All in all you'll leave feeling deliciously full and over indulged.
Furthermore, you can roll on downstairs to the 'Good Knight Bar' where they serve $6 tallies and play The Postal Service. All in all it was the best night-cap I've had in a long time.
