Sit down for a meal at Blowfly and you half expect to see John Williamson having a bit of a ‘rip, rip wood chip' in the corner. This little gem tucked modestly behind its white picket fence in Teneriffe is a breath of fresh air to the ‘BNE. The brains behind the establishment, Ben Howe and Nick Pinn, describe Blowfly as having "the simplicity and rawness of a woolshed and the comfort and warmth of the humble Queenslander".

Not only is the décor great, but Blowfly's menu impresses at breakfast, lunch and dinner. From the hearty ‘Shearer's Breakfast' to arguably the best-cooked steak in town, including salad, chips and onion rings to boot. It is obvious the boys have done their research into providing quality local produce, sourcing all their ingredients from neighbouring farmers.

If it is a local drinking hole you are after, Blowfly doesn't disappoint, with not only an extensive, but intelligent bar menu including local beers with a twist and expertly concocted cocktails like the ‘Blinky Bill', ‘Little Ripper' and the ‘Jumbuck'. Look out for subtle hints of good outback flavours such as lemon myrtle and pepper berry.
