Who couldn't love a restaurant with a pun as its name? Ate Ate Ate, an elegant new eatery in New Farm, exists at number 888 Brunswick Street as its oh-so-clever namesake suggests. When I first laid eyes upon this restaurant I understood the pun immediately. Having had a friend who lived above the shop I was already familiar with the address and thought, ‘Why had no one thought of this before?' (And also, thank god that sleazy fish and chip shop is gone).

I'll admit to a bit of a positive bias before even entering the restaurant - because surely a good pun is of equal, or even more, importance than a good menu - but I was pleasantly surprised to find Ate Ate Ate had managed both.

It's a beautifully designed affair with luxe red and black interior that lends instant classiness and distinction. The menu matches this atmosphere perfectly, with an offering of sophisticated modern Australian and French Cuisine, all incorporating traditional cooking techniques and even (gasp!) real French staff.

Genuine French Cuisine in Brisbane (available not just to your 5-star business types or passing royalty)? Who would have thought it!

PS - we tried to resist yet another Valentine's Day plug, but seriously, how sexy is this place? Book ahead!
